Chapter Five; Part Two

WTFFFUDGEE, it's been over a month already?!?! Again? Like, really?! Sorry guys!! I wonder why the time goes by so fast D: I can't believe I'm almost out of 7th grade D: wow. I feel kinda old now xD

Sorry to keep you waiting D;

Recap- "Well, Red was an upstanding child. At school, she made lots of friends. She was very popular, and was a beauty. Everyone loved her, especially her grandmother, Jill. Jill, however, was growing old quite rapidly. Red decided to bring her dear old granny a fruit basket, because as everybody knows, when people are sick you send fruit baskets. Pauline, her mother, gave her directions and told her to stick strictly to the safe route..."

********

"Alright." Reggie said with a hint of a smile. "I'll continue."

Chapter Five; Part Two

"Well, the sun was shining and the birds singing when Red headed out. She was singing, for she had a beautiful voice, and the skies were blue and everything was just dandy." Reggie grinned a little, as if this was his favorite part. "Then, the first sign of danger showed itself. Josie, a cunning person who had been cursed to transform into a wolf everyday at sunset as a punishment for her mischievous ways , decided to befriend Red. I mean, a girl your own age in a vast forest? Nothing suspicious about that. Red didn't take Josie to be bad, or evil at all. But Josie, remember, was to turn into a wolf at sunset. So, being the wolf she is, she decided to lure Red into being her dinner. Or, better yet...

'Hey, new buddy, why the fruit basket?'
'It's for my sick grandmere. Elle est tres mal, je bring les fruits for elle.' (A/N- Lol. Idk how to say bring or for yet.)

'Oh.. are you on her way to her now?' Josie licked her lips inconspicuously. It was now 8 in the evening, in the summertime, so the sun should set in about an hour. They had been picking poppies in the poppy field for hours now, for poppies cleared the mind of any other relevant thoughts. (A/N- That's like The Wizard of Oz, right? o.o;)

Suddenly, Red's mind cleared. She remembered her grandmother and the fruit basket and everything else she was supposed to do this morning. Since there was only an hour of light left and it took half an hour to get to and fro her grandma's, Red began running... leaving behind Josie and the poppies she had plucked. Josie started to protest at the arubted-ness, but by then Red had been out of earshot. Josie figured it pretty rude to leave someone stranded. Even if you were going to eat them when the sun came down. So, Josie decided to follow Red.. taking the right route to her grandma's. See, in her rush, Red had missed a turn. That meant she had gave Josie at least a 5 minute advantage. Thus, Josie began dashing to the small cottage in which Red's grandma inhabited.

(A/N- Okay.. are you guys lost? xD Probably. So, here's what just happened- A wolf- girl named Josie became friends with Red on Red's way to the grammy's place. Josie wanted to eat Red, so she distracted her with a big field of poppies. Later, when Red regained her sense of priority, she took of running to the grandma's place in order to give the fruits before dark. Then Josie followed her using a faster path...)

Josie was hiding behind a bush when Red pushed open her granny's door.

'Granny?' Red called out haltingly.
'Red.. darling.. come here..' A raspy voice echoed throughout the dimly lit home.

Red wandered closer and closer as Josie pressed her nose against the window. The sun began to sink.

A silent gasp escaped Red's lips.

CLIFFHANGER!!!

LOLOLOL, jk. I jest, I jest. I will finish this tomorrow, theee 28th of March. But now I must take some more delicious TheraFlu before my darned nose becomes stuffed again D:<

Chapter Five; Part One

Recap: "No it's not." Reggie and Ralph answered simultaneously.

This is a pretty big chapter, if I do say so myself ^__^

"You guys pranking us? Are you pranking me? Cindy, are they pranking us?!" My voice reached an octave higher and I started to stutter. What was I doing? Wandering into the woods and following a complete stranger home? Ha! Some genius I was.

"No, Ariel, don't worry!" Ralph started to look concerned, while Reggie snickered softly. It was starting to dawn on me that Ralph was the knight in shining armor, whilst Reggie was the smart- aleck in tinfoil.

"We mean you no harm." Ralph continued, almost apologetically. "It's just... Ah, this makes no sense. It's kind of useless explaining to one who doesn't have the background, the history and knowledge that I as myself posses-"

"Shut up, Ralph." Reggie suddenly interjected. "It's not that complicated. Kind of.

"It all started not THAT long ago, actually. Back when there were no supernatural entities, and yet the world wasn't young enough to be using torches or anything. Everything was still as dull and boring as citizens are today, though, and we all lived a hum- drum life. Of course, Ralph and I weren't around yet, but this tale had been told but a thousand times.

"One day, a kindly woman by the name of Jill, and her brother Jack went up towards a hill to collect water from the well. Jack fell down, and disappeared in a creek. Nobody knows why they didn't just get water from the creek, but people can be blunt sometimes. Anyway, Jill was very distraught over her brother. She tried going after him, but the current was mucho fast.

"When she got back to her village, she locked herself in her house and didn't come out for weeks. Eventually, a policeman came and investigated. By then, everyone had believed Jill had ceased to exist. But lo and behold, when the officer came out of the house, Jill was in his arms. Apparently she had fallen in love with the officer, for he was the only one who cared enough to look for Jill in the house, and, well, Jill wasn't exactly ugly herself.

"What happened next was that the two - you guessed it - they eloped. They had one child, Pauline, who grew up and married a woodcutter named Paul. (A/N- Sorry, I can't help matching names. Paul and Pauline, Bob and Bobette, Ralph and Reggie. Lol. Makes me wish I had a twin, although I would never name my kids Bobette. O.o;) Then, P&P had one child. They called her Ruby. Jill knit the kid a little cloak thingy, made from imported red silk. From then on everyone called her Ruby Red, but usually just Red for short.

"Well, Red was an upstanding child.

"WAIT!!" I blurted. Everyone turned to face me. "I've heard this story before. Little Red Riding Hood? She gets eaten by a wolf? A woodcutter comes and saves her and her nanny? Cindy, this is a fairy tale! The thing of nurseries!" Cindy nodded in agreement.

"Well, that's what you've stereotyped it to be." Reggie argued. "Ralph and I should know."

"Reggie, stop it!" Ralph cried. "It's no use, they're common folk. They don't comprehend this. Let's just take them home and continue the quest ourselves." Reggie scowled menacingly.

"Ralph, we need all the help we can get! Deadline is in a month, and we're no closer to finishing what we've started." Reggie sighed, exasperated and defeated.

".... Finish your story, Reggie." I felt compelled to tell him that. It was me, after all, who had interrupted him. Cindy looked at me, bewildered. Heh, I was pretty notorious for being obnoxious, not considerate.

"Alright." Reggie said with a hint of a smile. "I'll continue."

END.

Yerr, sorry it randomly cuts off.
This is kinda short so I'll make this Chapter Five, Part 1 and over the weekend I shall post Part 2. Because I want all this to be one chapter. Hehe.

Chapter Four

Recap- In all that had happened, I hadn't realized how much time had gone by..

A note from the Author...

AHHHHH!! If you're reading this, I humbly thank ye for not giving up on me after, uh, nearly four months. Heh.......sorry! WITHOUT FURTHER ADO, here's
Chapter Four;

Cindy started freaking out first. "THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT, ARIEL OCEANUS MIST!!" She shrieked. I flinched. I was almost never called by my middle name. Last time I heard it when I was 2, I had thrown a tantrum and demanded my mother to never call me it again. She begrudgingly accepted.

"Put a cork in it, Cindy..Haven't ye yelled at me enough today?" I shifted. Ralph stood awkwardly to one side, unsure what to do. Then it hit me.

"Ralph! Where do you live? You can't just be wandering in the creek! Only an idiot would come unprepared into here!"

"...Ariel, you do realize you just called yourself an idiot." Cindy interrupted.

"AND I'm proud of it." I grinned. She cracked a half smile. "Uhh.." Ralph put in. "My house is only a little ways from here.. My parents built it years ago, they decided they wanted a break from city life but didn't want to move too far."

"Let's go then :)" Cindy batted her eyelashes, her voice dripping honey.

An hour later...

"This is not a little ways!" I grunted. Ralph turned, looking apologetic.

"Sorry. I must've wandered further than I thought."

"It's okay! I don't mind at all!" Cindy chimed. I glared at her. And then I saw it.. It was a stone cabin, looking cozy and royal at the same time. Entranced, I ran ahead.

"Ooof!" Somehow, my klutzy self had managed to run headlong into the wooden door. It pushed open, and I tumbled onto a soft object.

"Thanks for breaking my fall." I muttered. As if whatever it was could hear. I got up and dusted myself off.

"You're welcome?" a disgruntled voice from behind answered. I turned.

"Ralph? How'd you get in here so fast?"

"Why does everyone think I'm Ralph?! I dyed my hair for a reason!"

"Did your voice get deeper, Ralph?" I asked. This dude looked exactly the same, same nose, lips, ears.. Wait. "Your eyes are hazel! Ralph's are dark brown. Plus, your hair is all light brown and mo-hawkey."

"Nooo." Ralph's doppelganger laughed. Then, Cindy and Ralph finally walked in.

"OMG! THERE'S TWO OF YOU!" Cindy squealed to Ralph. Then she looked closer.

"..Nevermind. I prefer brown eyes anyway." She smiled at Ralph. To my surprise he blushed and looked away.

"You have a lot of explaining to do, Rej." Ralph said sternly.

"But first, meet Cindy and Ariel. Cindy, Ariel, Reggie..my twin. Reggie, meet Cindy and Ariel. Now, tell me, Reggie- Did you or did you not put itching powder in Mother Goose's nest again? She thought I was you and chased me for miles!" Reggie smirked.

"She's the one who started it.." Ralph rolled his eyes.

"Who's Mother Goose?" I asked.

"You don't know!?" Reggie asked, looking shocked. "She's collected tons of fairy tales!" My brow crinkled.

"I know that, but you guys were talking about her like she was alive or something. That's impossible!"

"No it's not." Reggie and Ralph answered simultaneously.

Chapter Three

Recap: But that would mean..WHAT?!

Chapter Three;

Quickly I stuck my head above the water. Breathing huge breaths of air, I swam ashore, and hoisted myself on land. My tail, shimmering still with droplets of clear, clean water, was still attached to my body. Instantly I freaked out..

"HOLY PUNCTUATION MARKS!!" I screamed. Clamp. "MRRRP!!" I tried screaming again.

"But it was no use, because somebody had brutally shoved their hand against my mouth and I didn't want to bite it 'cuz it seemed gross I mean I dunno where it's been what if it just went to the bathroom I didn't see any sinks around did you hmm yeah I thought so and-" "

"Shut up!" The hand hissed.

"Sorry I didn't realize I was talking out loud I blabber senselessly when I'm nervous and OHEMGEE I DIDN'T KNOW THAT HANDS COULD TAL-" The hand pressed harder.

"Look, first of all, I'm not just a hand, second of all, if you don't be completely quiet in like 14 seconds that crazy Mother Goose is going to come and- " I quieted down, and for the first time raised my head up and looked straight into the person's deep, warm brown eyes. It was a boy, my age more or less, his hair an inky black. He had bangs that fell right above his eyes, which were sorta twitching nervously, and I bit back a giggle. Cindy would like him.. A bush rustled near us, and he tensed. Then, it was over, and he let out a sigh of relief.

"Alright, sorry 'bout that." He got up and started dusting himself off. "I'm Ralph.." He said, offering his hand. I took it, and stood. Where'd my tail go?! I panicked momentarily. For a second I debated over whether or not it was a dream.

"AAARIELLL, WHERE ON THIS POPULATED BLUE PLANET AREE YOUU?!!?!?" Cindy's loud, distinctive voice rang out.

"HEEEEEEEREE!" I screamed in reply. Another rustling in the bushes, and Cindy's face popped up.

"WHY'D YOU LEAVE ME ALONE LIKE THAT?!" She demanded, taking no notice of Ralph. In an effort to avoid the further ear-ringing madness that was Cindy, I hastily introduced her to Ralph."Cindy, (point to ralph) Ralph, Ralph, (point to cindy) Cindy." You could practically see Cindy swooning. Her cheeks turned red, eyelashes fluttered, and her voice went all weird. Ew, it was soo mushy.. I elbowed her a little to snap her out of it, to no avail.

"I HAVE AN ANNOUNCEMENT TO MAKE." I announced. (lol.) That got her attention sure enough.

"..What?" she barked, obviously not happy about tearing her attention away from Ralph. Blechh.

"You know what, nevermind, I'll tell you guys later. Right now, we need to figure out what to do 'cuz the sun is almost setting." In all that had happened, I hadn't realized how much time had gone by.

END

Gomen!! Gomen!! I'm sorry for not updating earlier..Ehe. Well, I hoped you enjoyed Chapter Three. Chapter Four will be up sooner than this, I hope. ^_^

'Till next time,

Chapter Two

Heyy everybody!! Thanks for reading ^_^

Recap: "Let's go explore the creek.."

Chapter Two;

Cindy's mouth fell into a perfect 'O'.

"Are you CUH-RAAZY?!" she demanded.

"Slightly." I replied, a hint of sarcasm in my voice.

"I'm cereal, Ariel. Haven't you heard the rumors? Strange..things have been spotted near there! If we go, who knows what we might encounter?" Cindy's voice fell into a hushed whisper, as if afraid someone might hear us.

"That's EXACTLY why I want to go..duh!" I whispered back, poking her forehead back a little. "And why are we whispering?" I whispered again.

"I dunno." Cindy whispered.

"Anyway, are you coming or not? 'Cuz I'll go without you.."
Cindy let out a long sigh, clearly exasperated. "Ugh. Whatever. You owe me." I did a 'mini' fist pump, and grinned when Cindy rolled her popsicle-blue eyes. Light streamed in from the windows, and Cindy's short golden hair seemed to sparkle in the light.

"Gawd, your hair is freaking awesome." I told her. She gave me a weird look and returned the compliment. "Uh. So is yours?.." I smiled.

"Well, if we're going, you oughta get ready. Let's leave in-" I cut her off.

"Now, 'cuz I'm ready." Cindy frowned and ran to her room, returning with a light jacket. Then, she slipped into the kitchen and grabbed some food, pocketing them in..her pockets.

"Kay..let's go." She said, turning to me.

"Alright!" I said, already jetting out the door.

A word from our sponsors!

I like chocolate chip waffles, it's true..
I eat them a lot, they so do not taste like poo..
I eat them every morning evening and night
I love them more than my polka-dotted kite
They rock my socks oh yes they do!

^ Woo, it's a limerick!! :D
(Yeah I'm on a kick of chocolate chip waffles now..expect them a lot in this story :P)
BACK TO THE FEATURE PRESENTATION!!
We walked towards the creek, and reached it in an hour and a 1/2.
"We're FINALLY here!" Cindy exclaimed excitedly. "Can we go now?" She asked right after. "Not until we find the 'strange sighting' you were talking about!" I screamed happily. Cindy did the koo-koo sign at me, but I simply ignored her and kept walking.
"You'll thank me for this someday.." I muttered wickedly, eyes lowered. "MWAHAHAHAH.."
"Weirdo." Cindy said.

The water in the creek was sparkling-so clear, it revealed all the rocks and pebbles that lay at the sandy bottom. I couldn't resist- I had to feel it. It looked so enchanting..

"ARIEL, DON'T TOUCH IT!" Cindy screamed all of a sudden.
"Why noooot?!" I whined. She pointed to the sign 3 inches away from where I was squatting. It read-

HUMAN FISH SPOTTED
A creature with a human top and fish-tail was spotted 2 days ago at this very spot.
Legend suggests that this thing is a mermaid, but as the mayor of your town I can assure you that there are no such things. Teehee!
-Da Mayor.

"What's that gotta do with anything?" I asked her. Cindy shrugged. "I dunno..it just feels wrong.."

I quickly leaned into the water and placed my land in it, swishing some water around. The water felt cool between my fingers, and suddenly the feeling for more water overwhelmed me. I stepped into the water, spellbound, and breathed in as the cool, smooth feeling of being submerged took over. I swam some way, swishing this way and that, Cindy's voice calling after me, coming closer and closer. I giggled and kept swimming. There's something about the water.. a voice in my mind nagged. But whether it was good or not, my instincts told me both. I sighed, took a breath of water and twirled underwater, my glimmering blue tail adorned with yellow, intricate labyrinth designs behind me.

Whoa. Tail? Breath of water?! My heart raced. This could only mean one thing..I got bit by a fish and was growing super fishy powers! (did anyone catch my, uh, reference there? ^_^) Well, that, or the water was enchanted and would turn any used-to-be mermaid back into a mermaid again. But that would mean..WHAT?!

End.

Didja guys like it? I think it was too obvious, or had too much dialogue. Feedback pleaseee? :]

Prologue/Chapter one

*I know, I used incorrect grammar in some places..my mind talks to me like that sometimes..
Prologue;

You all know about the little mermaid, Ariel. The youngest daughter of Triton, she blah-blah-blah surface blah prince blah-blah castle voice seawitch blah-blah-blah.

Well, her adventure was great and all, but, mines is not yet as well known. I, Ariel Mist, daughter Bob and Bobette Mist, have traveled the world, searching for..well..you'll see. For it is time, time for my adventure to be known to the world. Prepare yourselves, people!

Chapter One; Ariel's Adventure

It was just another ordinary day in the city. I had gotten home from Potloyeek (Author's note- Potloyeek is courtesy of my imagination, as is this story.) Middle School, (I'm in the 7th grade, 12 years old.) and was researching Australia for a project. (Love the Lamingtons, kiss kiss.) My parents, Bob and Bobette Mist, were not home yet..but old Ms. Qwerty kept an eye on me from her little house down the street. I looked into the mirror next to my closet door and saw my super dark black hair, soft and shiny. My chocolate brown eyes reflected off the mirror, staring back, unblinking. It was starting to creep me out, so I hefted my backpack up on my bed and took out my textbook. I was actually pretty good when it comes to academics, with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Everybody always told me I was 'clever', but I guess brains came naturally to me school wasn't hard. Anyway, I finished my homework quickly and just as fast got bored.

So, not wanting to resort to playing with lint like I did the last time I got bored, (*cough* yesterday *cough*) I hopped on my 22 inch steel rim rubber tire motorcycle (I know nothing about motorcycles, I just compiled all that from movies..lol ;D) and drove off into the sunset with my pony, Speckles. We went past BIG water breathing mouses and eated our way past giant choco-chip waffle legs. Then, the terrible-est thing happened- Speckles sacrificed himself to the sock candy lady. So, I kicked her taco and she gave Speckles back.

BACK IN REALITY:
Motorcycle-my sneakers.
Speckles-My 'stuffed' horsey. (HE'S REAL I TELL YOU!! REAL!! You'll seee..*cackles*)
Sunset- the sun and several fluffy flying bunnies.
big water breathing mouseys- Drooling puppies.
choco-chip waffles legs- choco-chip waffle legs.

The sacrifice Speckles made was me giving him up to my friend Cindy, the sock candy lady, for some warm socks and candy, but then I wanted Speckles back so I kicked over her taco (which was really some beef in disguise..) and she got upset and was afraid I might kick over her other taco so I told her I would stop if she gave me back Speckles.

When we were done with that, Cindy (we were at her house, which I had walked to.) asked me what I was going to do with 'the love of my life'.
"I don't know, Cindy. We've been so much together, but now we barely even see each other. We would, if it weren't for my parents. If only I could drive and had some money! It's a shame they stay at the other side of the town." I told her. Cindy nodded in agreement.

"Well," she said, "you can always have some here." I gave her a huge hug.
"Can..can we have some now?" I asked timidly.
"Of course." Cindy replied, smiling.

"Ahh. That was awesome." I grinned.
"Yep.." Cindy said glumly.
"Hey, why the long face?" I asked.
"WELL, ARIEL, YOU ATE ALL FIVE OF MY CHOCOLATE CHIP WAFFLE PACKS.." she replied, eyes twitching.
"Uhm." I whimpered. Looking in her face, I did the puppy dog face: maximum cute-ness. It worked, as usual.
"Stupid puppies." Cindy muttered. "So, what do you want to do now, Ariel?"
I thought. For a split second.
"Let's go explore the creek.."

End of chapter one. :3
hope y'all liked it XD

PS. Alice, I spelled prologue right in the title! That counts for something!! Riight?
